A Piece of Advice.....

I borrowed this quote from Carrie's blog....she has a whole list of things for you to go read, but I liked this one. Especially lately. I feel like I am constantly telling Libbi to make her whiney voice "GO AWAY!"

"Don’t be a whiner. Nobody likes a whiner, not even other whiners."

Random Moments.....

Last night I played around with my new flip video camera that Kyle gave me for Christmas. I figured out how to move it from the camera to the computer, now I just have to figure out how to put them on the blog or in emails and stuff. Libbi was having a meltdown night over everything, so I didn't get much accomplished, but I can post video now! I'm excited. There isn't much that's new in our lives. Libbi spent the night with Kjerstin in Logan and got to have her first cousin sleep over with Bailey. I'm glad that Kjerstin and Jennifer got to be the ones to orchestrate their sleepover. The girls had fun and are still talking about sleeping at Aunt Kjerstin and Aunt Jen's house and the adventures to be had there. There are some pretty funny stories from the 24 hours they spent in Logan.
We took Libbi in to have her flu shot last Thursday and did her 3 year old check up. She weighs a whopping 35 lbs and is 39 and 1/2 inches tall. 95% percentile for both. She is tall and skinny like her dad, with this cute little belly. Other than a "little" fluid in her ear, she is healthy. The "little" fluid has required a round of antibiotics, but she seems to be feeling better, minus the fight that ensues when it's time to take the antibiotic. She even did ok in the canyon last weekend with Kjerstin.
Kyle is itching to uncover the mustang and start working on it since it's been warm this week. While I don't disagree, I know it's going to snow some more and then he'll be mad that he has to play in the snow or scrambling to get it covered again. Other than just working, not much else is going on. Just thought I would give everybody an update. I'll try to figure out how to post video's this weekend. OH YEAH, I found my phone last Saturday.....it was in the couch, which I find a little suspicious since I tore the couch apart the night I lost it and couldn't find it. Must be the little green men at work.

She is so much like her Dad!

Last night I got home from work to find Libbi under the piano bench with socks on her hands and a mini screw driver. When I asked her what she was doing, she responded, "I'm fixing this truck, just like Daddy fixes ours!" She is so funny! Apparently she has watched her Dad a little to often with his feet sticking out from the truck and a something in his hand fixing something that was wrong. I wish I had thought to take a picture of it, because it was quite a sight. I love this girl!

Sending Birthday Wishes....

To a Fabulous and Amazing Man! My Grandpa!

I have learned many things from my Grandpa and cherish the time that we have spent together. He is truly an amazing man. I am happy that Libbi knows her "Grandpa David" and loves him like I do. I'll never forget the first day he held her. We were all in the kitchen trying to get everything ready for Carly fest and Grandpa was the only one without something immediate to do (which is a rare occasion as Grandpa tries to stay busy) and Libbi wanted to be held, so Emily put her in Grandpa's arms and told him to just hold her. Libbi calmed right down. Somewhere there is a picture of this, but I can't find it at the moment. I just wanted to wish my Grandpa a Happy Birthday and tell him that I love him. I hope he has a great day!

Why is it.....

That when I think I have a really good idea, nobody else thinks it's a good idea? Last night at dinner, Kyle and Curtis were discussing their teams being in the playoffs and I thought it would be fun to do a Superbowl Madness, like March Madness.....they both gave me a death look and said that's stupid! There are only 8 teams left! I thought it sounded like fun, at least it was something to do! Oh well, March Madness is around the corner!

You Might Be a Redneck If.....

Well, I got out voted, 2 to 1 about our Saturday night activity. Below are the pictures of the adventure we had. All I can say is, I feel pretty redneck. We had fun and Libbi enjoyed it. We have some video, but I'll have to figure out how to post it later. Libbi decided that she like the dinosaur truck and named it her truck. Even now when she watches the video's of the show, she refers to the blue truck as "her" truck. Silly girl! I wonder where my Princess is. Libbi is getting excited "Mommy's" Truck Jumping Cars "Libbi's" Truck Jumping cars, she was to fast that I couldn't get her in the air. Libbi and Kyle waiting for the show. I love this picture! Below is the picture of Libbi on Christmas morning before we let her open her presents from Santa! She was very excited and slightly groggy.

How True It Is Today

As we found ourselves Christmas shopping last night, I had a twinge of missing traditions from my younger years and wanting back some normalicy for what I always considered Christmas to be. Including early morning present opening at my parents house and waiting patiently on the stairs for my Grandparents to come through the school room to watch us tear into brightly wrapped packages under the tree. Being a a furious, but not so mad rush to get showered and dressed to go to my Grandparents house to see what Santa had left there. A fabulous lunch of ham and funeral potatoes eaten on paper Christmas plates and then off to the Hjorth family for some quality family time. Ahh...sigh of relief, that was Christmas. Since Miss Libbi, there are a few new families to visit and I find myself very stressed and stretched very thin to make sure that we spend quality time with everybody and contribute to all their traditions as we see fit. Gone are the restless moments at the top of the stairs, replaced are moments waiting for Libbi to wake up and open the presents that Santa so carefully picked out for her, hoping that I found just the right "surprise" present for Kyle since he likes to know well in advance what he's getting as to not be disappointed. I always surprise him, he hates it, I love it! Then off to Kyle's Grandma's for a morning with extended family and brunch. With a few moments of quiet downtime before we are off to spend some time with my family. We have a few other grandparents house to fit in, which include just a quick visit, but it is a necessity and I will always insist on it because I feel that family is one of the most important parts of growing up and I want Libbi to know all the people who love her and to feel like she has had some sort of relationship with her Great-Grandparents. I want Christmas to be perfect, but we always end up in a little tiff about time and where we are supposed to be at that moment. This morning, I came into work and read my horoscope listed below.

Libra (Sep 23 - Oct 22)
Perhaps you really thought that this holiday season would be different. And maybe, to a limited extent, it is. But it still might not match up to your vision of how you wanted to revitalize some of the old traditions that could put you in touch with your roots. Don't fret about a lost opportunity; there's no time like the present moment to begin. Create your own magical celebration and share it with someone special.

What a perfect description of my last month of worrying. I am ready to begin new family traditions with my little family and hopefully, one day, Libbi will remember those traditions and think that 'this' is Christmas.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and safe travels in your Christmas Traditions.
