A Fairy Tale Story

Once upon a time there was a girl named Jessica, she used to blog all the time. Now she sucks at it. Sorry, facebook is much easier and requires less words and complete thoughts. Besides, I think since I took a leave of absence from this time sucking world, people have stopped reading. That's the end....

Explination for me

I know the things below are repeats of what's listed on the side bar. But let's be honest, the side bar is getting a little crowded and I'm terrified that I won't get to print the side bar if I ever print my blog into a book and I wanted to make sure they were preserved for good.

I know it's been forever since we updated and there are lots of things that we need to talk about. Crazy work, Libbi turning 5, Kyle turning an age younger than me, Snowbird, Widowmaker.....the list goes on. One day soon I'll have the energy and ambition to do mass amounts of updates (again, mostly for me.)

Oh yeah.....is anybody reading this?

A Touch of Spring

Somehow I ended up slacking last fall and the last pictures I have of Libs are from a year ago. So last weekend, we headed to the local park for some fun in the sun. I think they turned out pretty good. What do you think?

Aquarium fun

Last weekend we joined Bailey at the local aquarium for Bailey's 5th birthday party. We had so much fun. Bailey's birthday is always a reality check for me because Libbi isn't that far behind her and that means my baby is growing up.
Happy 5th Birthday to Bailey!

We got to see the new penguin exibit! They were so cool!
We even had some lunch at the over crowded In and Out in Draper. So yummy! I am glad to see on in Utah! The best part about the Aquarium was petting the Sting Rays! Below are some video's of the girls petting the sting rays!

Easter Weekend at the Sand Dunes

We had the pleasure of getting to go to the Sand Dunes again this Easter weekend. LUcky for us, we planned a little better and ended up going Friday morning. As much as I missed Libbi, it was nice to not have to worry about her and to be able to ride with Kyle.

It was mostly a weekend full of fun, oh and snow, and wind and watching people get stuck in soft sand. Friday night, the wind blew all night. When we got up Saturday morning, everybody who had been sleeping in tents, I'm sure where not as happy as I was to have slept in the truck. I'm a pansy, I'll admit it. The last time we went down there, we bought an air mat for the back of the truck. I love it, I sleep so good.

Dusty and Amanda joined us for Friday night, in the wind storm but after they left, we moved our camp over to some friends of Kyles from work.

As promised for Tony, there are the videos at the bottom.

Tony and Kyle racing.
Tony and Kyle

Sadly, this is not the only truck we saw get stuck.

When we woke up Saturday morning, this is what we found:

All in all, we had a great time and enjoyed all the company we had, thanks everybody for hanging out with us.

As promised, here are the videos for Tony, since Kyle won't load them on his facebook or his youtube.

Libbi's Easter Weekend

While we were off at the sand dunes enjoying the wind, snow and freezing temperatures, Libbi was spending a fun fill weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Her weekend started Friday with an Easter egg hunt with the kids in my parents neighborhood.

After a fabulous Easter Egg hunt, she got to go to a play. Off to see Carly's favorite musical 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'.

On Saturday, Libbi was so excited to go for a picnic. She got to go with my grandparents and my parents to Skull Valley to visit the house my Grandma grew up in for a family picnic.

I love this picture!

Who can have Easter without properly died Easter Eggs?

The Easter Bunny must love Libbi because he bought her lots of fun
things in her Easter basket.

At the end of all the fun at Grandma's house, the brackets for March Madness were decided. Grandpa won and Libbi....well, she got to be the biggest Loser, but she did correctly pick Butler to go all the way. I think because it was fun to say!

Libbi had lots of fun on her weekend at Grandma's. I'm grateful for my parents and their love for our daughter. Libbi loves to go to Grandma's house for sleepovers and was happy to have Kjerstin and Dan there for the weekend to help entertain her.

Just Some Thoughts

Just some thoughts from this past week.  I realize how much I like the perks of my job.  The actually work, well, that's just work.  But I work with some amazing people who have become my friends and with my job, I'm able to help out lots of people.  Sometimes it's for a quick break from reality and sometimes its because they are off to help family or friends in need.  I'm grateful that I have a job that allows me to share the best parts of it with those around me who need it.  I have made some good friends working there and I appreciate them more than they will ever know.  Leaving the hospital was hard for me because I thought it's what I always wanted to do, (not that I want to answer phones for the rest of my life) but if I hadn't been forced to find another job, I wouldn't have met the people that I did.  The good news is, for us, things feel pretty stable right now.  Kyle is loving his job, I'm loving my job and Libbi loves only having to go to daycare 2 days a week and spending the rest of the week with Grandma and Kyle.  I'm grateful to our families who help us out so that we can leave her with them instead of at daycare.  I'm looking forward to warmer days and letting Libbi play outside to get some of her endless energy out.  That's about it.  This week I'm grateful for my job, my family and the girls I work with.

Dear Wam Weather

Dear Warm Weather,

While I have throughly enjoyed the lack of snow we've had this winter, I'll be willing to settle for some spring rain.  I would like to open the windows and air out the germs in my house.  As we spent the second day at Instacare today with Libbi, who also has a confirmed case strep throat.  I'd like some warm weather and some sunshine.  I don't think it's asking to much.  After all, it's almost March and that means it's almost Easter and that means it's almost time for our trip to the Sand Dunes! :)

Ok, all I want is some warm weather so that everybody in my house can get healthy.  I'm finished being the clean-up, healthy one.  Here's to the drug companies for making Tylenol, Motrin, and antibiotics available to cure all the aliments.

Love,
Our Household

Nostalgia

In light of some recent events that are of un-importance to most of the world, I have been thinking a lot about the people in my life who have influenced me. More importantly (again, due to recent events) the women in my life who helped me become the person I am. I hope that from their example, I can one day be as strong and as amazing. Please don't fell left out of this list if you aren't listed, each person becomes a part of your life for a reason and there fore impacts who you are. I believe this whole heartily and want to share with you some of the strong and amazing women in my life. When I was little, I could only have one best friend, but as I grew up and found that there are many people who can be your 'best' friends, I have many. Each are my best friend for a different reason, because each of them support me in a different way. And it's all of them supporting me that help me stand on my feet and be who I am.

My Mom

My mom is amazing. I don't know how else to describe it. She is strong in so many ways. She has taught me to be independent and assertive. To be loving and kind. She is smart, whenever I have a question, she's probably the first person I call for the answer. She is a great shopping buddy, who tries, (sometimes unsuccessfully) to get me out of my comfort zone. She is my best friend. Even though we are so much alike. I learned to keep house from her (which I may or may not do successfully), I learned that there is more than one way to do things and sometimes you have to think outside the box. I love all the things she teaches Libbi and all the fun times we have together. It's my mom's example that made me decide I wanted to teach. It's in my blood, I think. I have one sentence for her: Rite-aide on a Monday night....... There are times with her that I'll never forget and even though we don't always see eye to eye on things and we've had our share of disagreements, I wouldn't trade her as my mom or as my friend for the world. I know that not matter what, she's only a phone call away.

My Grandma Parrish

My Grandma Parrish has always been a source of strength for me. She is spiritual, she is thoughtful and she has many talents. As a child, there was nothing better than a new blanket from Grandma to cuddle under. Nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread in the kitchen or coming into the house for dinner on a Sunday afternoon. I spent many countless summer afternoons on the back porch. I loved to sit on the couch with her and read a pile of books. My Grandma is a firm believer that TV will ruin your brain and there fore we were not allowed to watch TV if there was sunshine outside or cousins to play with. TV was reserved for movies on Saturday nights. I learned to love some classics, Wizard of Oz, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Music Man, Sound of Music......and many others. My Grandma is the reason I wanted to become a nurse. She seemed so confident and so full of knowledge. She still is and I hope that she knows how much I love her and I'm so grateful for the things she has done for me and taught me and the example that she is. I hope that I'm able to teach Libbi a fraction of the things I've learned from my Grandma.

My Grandma Hjorth

I wish that I had spent more time getting to know my Grandma Hjorth. She was strong in so many ways. She was the first person I knew to be interested in Genealogy and my family history. She is one of the few people in the world who is able to call me Jessie. (Try it, I dare you, if you aren't on the list of 5 people allowed to call me that....) She was always so happy to have her family around her. She wanted to know who was there and when you were coming. You could always count on Grandma Hjorth to have corn flakes under the kitchen sink and Bob Barker and the Price is Right to accompany your breakfast. She loved to sit on the porch and watch us play in the front yard. From her, I learned the importance of keeping your family close and that they are the most important thing. I cherish the memories I have of her and I am so glad that Libbi was able to meet her before she joined Grandpa.

My Aunts

Each of my aunts brings something amazing to the table and it has impacted my life in one way or another. They have all helped prop me up at one time or another with their own experiences and knowledge. I want them to know that they each hold a special place in my heart and my life and I'm grateful to all the things you have shared with me and taught me. Thank you!

Kjerstin is such a strong, tough girl. She is stubborn as they come, but one of the most caring people you'll ever meet. We have definetly had our differences and our sibling fights, but she was usually my partner in crime and I loved getting to be her older sister. When she has children, she will be a great mom. I have many memories that include her as a major part of them. I'm so glad we are sisters and for many reasons, she is one of my best friends, even if we aren't always on the same page about things. Kjerstin, you are amazing and strong and full of life and things to come. Dan just compliments your character and I'm so glad you found him to be with you on your journey. I'm grateful for the opportunity I have to be your sister.

There are so many things that I've learned from Carly.  So many things she has taught me.  Carly is extremely loving.  She is always so happy and so excited to know what's going on in your life.  I'm grateful to her for her example and for all the many things she has taught me about life and love and finding the happiness.

Jennifer

(Look how Little Libbi is!  It's the only picture I had, apparently, we need more pictures of Gram!)

I've learned a lot from Jennifer.  She has raised three children and done a great job.  Jennifer is independent and is very caring.  She is very thoughtful.  I appreciate what she does for us, whether it's entertaining Libbi for a while so I can have a much needed mental break or finding fun things for Libbi.  I am truly grateful for her example and her presence in our lives.  I hope her daughter and granddaughter know that she is amazing.  Thank you for sharing your son with me and for being such a great friend.

Ryanne

Ryanne was my best friend in Junior high.  From her, I learned confidence.  I learned to just smile and have fun and to be confident.  Enjoy the moment and be assertive.  Ryanne is full of life and adventure.  I can see that is still part of her life and who she is.  Whatever she is doing, she is doing to the fullest and I have always admired her confidence in life.  I hope she knows how much I appreciate what she did for me as my best friend many years ago.

Shannon

Shannon was my best friend in High School. I loved her spunk. She was always full of energy and life and I'm so grateful we were friends. Shannon values friendships and when you are friends with her, you are life long friends. I wish that we had stayed close, but life came about and we went different directions. And though we've drifted apart, I value her friendship and memories I have of our crazy times in high school. I'm glad she decided I was worth getting to know our Sophomore year, because I don't know how I would have made it through high school without her.  She helped me through some tough times and I'm so grateful that I had her to help me and to be my friend. She truly an amazing and beautiful person!

Jenna was my roommate in college, but she became my college best friend. As we moved away from college, she has become my "mommy" best friend. But she is more than a friend, she's also my cousin. Which just makes her legitimately my family. (I'd claim her anyway.) Jen is the one person I can tell anything too. She has helped me be the person I am today and we often share advice on our girls. I love that Libbi and Bailey have become best friends. It just makes it better to hang out. I know that whatever advice I'm going to get from her is sincere.  Thanks Jen for always knowing exactly what I need to hear and for listening.  I value our friendship and I appreciate all the things you have done for me.

Libbi

She is probably the greatest strength to me.  She has taught me so much about myself and about life.  I love to spend time with her as she learns and discovers new things.  I am reminded that I'm the lucky one that she chose to be her mom.  I wish she could stay my baby forever, but if she did that, I would miss seeing her grow and become a women.  I look forward to each day with her as she grows.  I hope that I'm teaching her all the things she needs to know.  That I'm taking the important parts of the women above and passing them on to her.  Libbi, you are my best friend, my daughter and my biggest strength.

These are just a few of the many women in my life who have helped me, taught me or supported me as I have gone through life.  I want them each to know how much they mean to me and that I love them all.
