This is What Has Been Happening at Our House!

Last week, we caved and took Libbi to McDonald's for a Happy Meal. Her happy meal toy was a fake Barbie. She loved it. She brushed her hair and played with her and then she lost little Barbie. Miss Libbi was so sad that she lost Barbie. We searched for her and couldn't find her. Ok, mostly Libbi searched for her. We finally compromised with her and told her if she would be patient and go to bed, we we could go get a new Barbie tomorrow. A real Barbie. So the next day, off we went to Wal-Mart for a new Barbie. She picked one that had Tanner the dog with her, plus she was mostly dressed. Here is a picture of what came in the package with new Barbie. So for the last few days, you can find her feeding Tanner the dog, brushing Barbies hair or undressing Barbie for fun, but then bringing her to me to dress again. Bring on Barbie! I'm very excited, Libbi loves it.

She's Not A Baby Anymore

I am mourning the loss of my baby to a little girl. The other night she was digging for something under her bed and found an old binky. I know what you are thinking, but I thought I had gathered them all up and disposed of them appropriately. However, she found one, I think she had stashed it when we told her they were going away. When she came running out with her hands over her mouth giggling, I knew something was up. She just kept playing with it and finally I told her to throw it away. When she came back, I asked her where the binky went and she said, "I put it in the garbage because I don't need them anymore!" and off she went to play. I was so proud of her, but a part of me was sad. She's not my baby any more, she is becoming a little girl. Which I am very happy about, but I miss the quiet moments of snuggling and rocking and that a binky would instantly settle her down. Occasionally, I walk through the baby isle and think that if I bought binky's, then maybe for a moment she would be a baby again. Then I remember that she sleeps through the night without one, since she isn't waking up to find it all night long. It's good, I am glad we no longer need a binky for sleeping and to have all day, she is much to big, but she looked so silly with one in her mouth the other night. And she knew it. Alright, there is my mommy moment for the week.

Here is the other fabulous moment from my weekend. I was washing Kyle's uniforms and somehow a pen sneaked through. For those of you who know me, I washed my Book of Mormon in 9th grade and a blue restaurant crayon with my work clothes. I am notorious for washing things that should not be washed. Well, I thought I got the pen out without much damage, put his uniforms in the dryer and walked away. When I went back to change loads, I opened the dryer and to my surprise, found blue ink all over in the dryer. Great, just great! So off to Lowe's we went for lacquer thinner and latex gloves. Luckily, I got all of it out and it seems to be gone. Kyle was not very excited about having ink all over his uniforms and I don't know how to get it out. Maybe I'll make him send them to their cleaners and see if they can get it out. One day, maybe, I'll learn not to put things that don't belong in the washing machine in the washing machine. It was an expensive little mess up. Well, now you all know how to get crayon or ink out of the dryer, lacquer thinner!

Tagged for 7 Random Insights

I got tagged by Kimi to do 7 Random Things in my life, here goes. 1- It took me 3 tries to pass the driving test to get my license. I took it once at school in driver's ed, once in the Camry on a standard transmission and once in the maxima with an automatic transmission. To this day, I would rather drive a standard/manual than an automatic. I like to have the control. Thanks to my Dad for teaching me how!

2- I love to tell people what Libbi says and does. I think it's funny, I bet everybody else finds it annoying.

3- I STRONGLY dislike to do my hair. I think it's a waste of time that I could be doing other things with. Plus, since it only goes curly these days, it's a lot of work. We'll thank Libbi for her contribution to only curly hair.

4- I don't like wearing shoes. PERIOD! I would rather be bare foot or in flip-flops. I'll even pick flip-flops in freezing cold weather and 3 feet of snow.

5- I make don't friends easily. I like my comfort zone and I have a hard time extending myself and making new friends.

6- I love to take pictures and then play with the ones I like to enhance them or change them.

7- I hate beans.

And I tag:
Jenna, Kjerstin, Melissa, Jamie, Amanda, Brittany, and Leigh!

A New/Old Idea

Last night I was searching for my brown boots, to match my new brown pants so that I could wear them today. It has been my goal this week to not dress down at work (not that our dress code is all that strict, but still.) and with new work clothes from my birthday from my parents, it was a great week to try this experiment. So far the response has been good. However, not that I'm sidetracked or anything, while I was searching for my shoes last night, I found a journal that my mom gave me for Christmas a few years back. The idea behind the journal was to evaluate my day and find a minimum of 3 things that I was grateful for. I made it my goal to find 5 things every day that I was grateful for. In the crazyness of my life, the journal was put away and forgotten. I was reading it last night and noticed a theme throughout this journal, almost every entry there was a family member that I was grateful for. Since this blog is an attempt to journal/scrapbook, I thought I would add a side bar of the things I'm grateful for and attempt to update them daily. I am hoping that it will help me find the positive things during the day and help me find the big and little things that I'm grateful for. Feel free to play along by adding a comment of the things you are grateful for.

Guess What Happens at Grannma's House!

Yup.....that's the little princess, she found Grannma's Lipstick!

It's Date Night!

Ok, so this isn't a great picture, but it's of us and we have very few of them! I have to tell you all a little story. One time when I was between 8 and 10, my parents were invited to attend a Jazz game with some friends of theirs. I don't remember what made me mad, but something set me off and I was EXTREMELY mad that my parents were going to a Jazz game and I didn't get to go and I had to go to my cousins house (ok, so they lived across the street) to be baby sat. I vividly remember laying on my twin size bed mad that my parents were going and I wasn't. I remember my mom coming in the room and telling me it was time to go and yelling at her through my tears. And I remember being mad about it all night. (Not that I'm still mad about it or anything! I'm not stubborn and I don't hold a grudge!) I don't know why I cared, I'm not a huge Jazz fan or anything. Fast forward a few years and Kyle got invited to go to a suite for a playoff game with his brother and some friends. I was mad that I couldn't go either, but for many reasons. I tell you all the story because last night, my cute boy took me to my very first Jazz game. You can't see where are seats were, but we were on row 16 in section M. Behind the basket on the visitor's bench side. We went to the game with Kyle's boss Rick and his wife Cali. We had a lot of fun and I personally want to thank Ron Burt for getting us tickets to the game and I want Rick to know that I think it's awesome that he thought of Kyle and got us tickets also, and for recognizing that Kyle wants to do this and has helped him progress. I appreciate it immensely. Even though they lost, we had fun. Did you all know that Shaquille O'Neal is still playing NBA basketball?!?!?! I was kinda shocked when he came out on the floor because he had been hiding on the bench. That man is very large and one of the worst free throw shooters ever. He throws like a girl. (Sorry, the picture is a little blurry, but you can see it's him!) And the Jazz dancers, they weren't very good either. Kind of sloppy and didn't do a great job holding their formations. I know what my Dad is going to say, you don't go to sports games to look at cheerleaders, or something like that. He is usually annoyed by the dancers constantly on the field or floor and the players standing around waiting for them to finish their little dance so they can play the game. There are some random pictures from the game last night posted. The picture to above is a view from our seats to the court and an "action shot"! The picture to the right is a view from my seat. We were even privileged enough to get to see Larry H. Miller himself being taken out of the arena in his wheelchair. Kyle said last night that he had been to games before, but had never been close enough to see the players faces. It's true....at least for my first game, I had good seats.

Thanks Babe, for taking me to my very first NBA Jazz game. I had a lot of fun and now I can say that I've been to a game.

Small Voice from the Back Seat

This morning we had to take Kyle to work, but since I was scheduled in later today, we just got up and took Kyle to work in our jammies. Before we left, Libbi said she wanted to just stay home and sleep and Mommy would be right back. So I walked out of the bedroom, ran upstairs to brush my teeth and then could hear her crying. It was the scared cry. I found her standing in the door way screaming for her daddy. So we wrapped her in a blanket and took her with us. We dropped Kyle off at work, pulled out on to 2100 South and got to 9oo East and I hear in from the back seat in a very sad, quiet Libbi voice, "He forgot to give me a kiss!" I asked her if she wanted me to turn around so she could get her kiss from her daddy, she said yes. So I took her back to the parking lot at his work. When we pulled back into the parking lot, Kyle walked over looking confused. I told him what she had said. He opened her door and gave her a kiss. And off we went.

Weekend Fun.....

Ok, so it wasn't really the weekend, but I wanted you all to see what a bad mom I am. I was attempting to get Libbi ready to go Friday afternoon so we could pick Kyle up from work and then go to dinner or something for my birthday and turned on the curling iron to curl Libbi's hair. As I was searching for something, I heard her start screaming and when I found her she said that her curling iron had hurt her and all I could see was a white patch of skin. Quickly she had her arm immersed in running cold water and after she started to calm down, we soaked a paper towel and then curled her hair. She looked super cute and she still a little afraid of the curling iron, but who wouldn't be. We are keeping it covered, just so she doesn't accidentally bump it and because she is band-aide obsessed. Below are the pictures we took yesterday after her band aid fell off in the tub. I keep telling her it's a right of passage to being a girl. Poor thing! Friday night at dinner, she told the waitress that she had a band aid and then wouldn't tell the waitress what happened, she just went back to coloring. We'll have to see how she does at daycare today. She's been pretty protective of it.
We had a good weekend, including Birthday Lunch at Grandma and Grandpa Parrish's house. More to come when I have the pictures from my mom. I guess that means birthday week is officially over! Thanks to everybody who helped me celebrate!

Happy Birthday to My Mom!

I wanted to wish my mom a Very Happy Birthday! I don't know if she can still get away with being only 23, but we'll go with that. Libbi has promised to take Grannma to lunch at Applebee's for chicken fingers and a song and a big piece of cake. (That's where Grandma and Grandpa took Libbi for lunch on her birthday.) I think I vote for Winger's.....it's my birthday too and I want popcorn for lunch! We love Grannma and Mom and I'm so happy that she is part of my life. Thanks for all you do, I wouldn't want to share my birthday with anybody else! Hope you have a wonderful day! Maybe you'll even get a win!

And Birthday Week Continues.......

When I got to work this morning, this is what I found on my desk! A big thank you to my team for remembering it's my birthday and that I will be off tomorrow, so they helped me celebrate today! A big thanks to Jamie for having her camera to send me the picture. Hey Libbi, Nemo is still on my desk. Lucky for all of you, my desk was almost clean this morning!
